SCHEDULE OVERVIEW
On Friday evening, we will have a short opening ceremony followed by camp orientation, a snack and a lesson on "field ablutions" (aka maintaining hygiene while camping) followed by a practice and lights out. On Saturday morning, we will have a round robin series of classes on things like: 1. setting up a tent; 2. setting up and lighting a camp stove; 3. using camp tools (safely) such as a hatchet, wood saw, shovel, etc, and 4. useful knots. In the afternoon, we will have a small game, such as capture the flag, followed by a campfire and a night routine. On Sunday, we will pack up, have breakfast, and go on a 1.5-2 km hike within our lodges. This will be the first of potentially many hikes this year. We will formally close the camp Sunday, 13 September around 1030, and ask that all parents and youth depart at 1100.
MENU OVERVIEW
As per tradition, we will keep the menu simple, varied and kid-friendly. I am aware of some dietary restrictions, but feel free to reach out should you wish for an alternative plan. At this time, here is our thinking:
Friday evening Snack = Cheese and crackers
Saturday Breakfast = Scrambled eggs, toast and bacon (pork, turkey, vegan)
Saturday Lunch = Grilled cheese cooked over camp stove
Saturday Afternoon snack = trail mix
Saturday Dinner = Walking Tacos (beans, ground beef, cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato, salsa, Doritos, etc.)
Saturday evening snack = S'mores over campfire
Sunday breakfast = Oatmeal
Sunday snack = Trail mix + granola bars
