- Scoutstracker is the place to go to see your youths development at the 104th. It’ll show all their achievements, schedule, goals, etc…
- MyScouts.ca is used every year, to re-register your youth and any volunteers.
- The calendar will show you all the great adventures coming up throughout the year. It is color coated for each section and also include all-sections events. The calendar is a live document, so expect there will be additions and changes, but we’ll aim to keep it as up to date as possible.
- See the leaders tab for all section leaders, including our group commission who keeps the group running smoothly. If you are interested in getting involved in any way, reach out Bill our GC.
- Thank a Scouter is a great way to acknowledge the hard work our volunteers do throughout the year. Maybe there was something special they did at camp, or an extra fun event at a meeting, which your youth really enjoyed. You can even say thanks to a another youth from any section. Many of our youth, especially in the older sections, help younger youth develop their skills. Getting a commendation helps to positively reinforce what a great role model they are.
- The camps tab is subdivided to provide information on all the camps we have attended. It includes directions and a link to their specific website, in case you want to know more.
Attendance: Please do your best to be on time. The meeting begins and ends with a grand round and it’s an important time to come together as a section.
Weekly Dues: To help subsidize operational costs (badges, craft supplies, etc.), we request $1.00, which is collected at beginning of each meeting by a senior youth. Instead of giving your youth money for dues, you could encourage them to earn it by doing a weekly chore at home. This teaches the youth responsibility and provides them with a sense of accomplishment for paying the dues themselves.
Uniform: The scout uniform must be worn at all meetings and formal events. It varies by section but consists of a shirt for chipmunk, vest & hat for beavers, and a shirt for cubs, scouts, venturers and rovers. These are available online at the Scout Shop, however to save shipping costs, we will be placing a group order a couple of times a year. For all sections, the uniform also includes a necker and woggle, which are provided to each youth when they are invested into the group.
Programming: We follow the Canadian Path in order to develop well-rounded youth, better prepared for success in the world. With Scouts Canada’s Youth-led programming, youth put leadership and teamwork into play by planning their activities with the guidance of an adult Scouter. The great Scouting adventure allows youth to explore new things, share ideas, learn new skills, and create new paths. Along the way they meet new friends, learn teamwork, and develop self-confidence.
Fundraising: As a group we participate in three major fundraisers each year. Apple Day, Purdy’s Chocolate & leaf bags. All our youth are expected to participate in fundraising as it helps fund our gym rental at the school, our storage rental that houses our equipment, as well as helping to fund our programs. This means it helps keep our costs down so we can focus on having fun!
Soft fundraisers: There are 3 “soft”-fundraisers offered at the 104th Ottawa. These are available to use throughout the year and provide the group with a bit of extra cash influx.
- Mabels Labels – If you need to label your youths school, camping or scouting supplies, then head over to here to place your order. 20% of all purchases comes back to our group. Thank you !

- GCWCC – Did you know that during the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign, you can designate a specific group at Scouts Canada to receive your donation. Follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure your funds reach the our group:
- Step 1: Access the GCWCC Donation Platform. Log in to your workplace’s GCWCC ePledge Portal (often hosted via the United Way Centraide platform depending on your region).
- Step 2: Select the “Other Charities” Option. When you reach the donation page where you assign your funds, look for the option that allows you to give it to “Other Canadian Registered Charities”. A minimum donation of $26 may be required to be able to apply it to a specific Scouts Canada group.
- Step 3: Search for Scouts Canada Charity (BN/Registration Number: 10776 1694 RR0001). Note that local scout groups fall under the national Scouts Canada umbrella.
- Step 4: Add your specific group name when prompted to designate your funds or add a comment to let them know you want the funds to go to the 104th Ottawa Scouting Group. This ensures that when the Scouts Canada processes the GCWCC funds, the money will be directed to our group. Thank you !
